Kendall Wethal, Owner

Kendall has a B.S. in Forestry from UW Stevens Point with an emphasis on arboriculture and urban forestry. He worked as an arborist and landscape professional before starting his own tree and lawn care business and wholesale nursery in Evansville.  After several years in the wholesale business, he opened Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse. He still loves seeing the smiles on people’s faces when they find the perfect plant.

Karen Tway, Manager, Evansville Location

Karen has an A.S. in Business Management and studied Horticulture at Madison College.  She fell in love with plants as a child while  helping her parents in their garden and worked in both the retail and wholesale florist industries before landing at Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse. She has a passion for heirlooms and loves the search for new and unique plants, but the highlight of her job is helping customers choose plants.

Karen Wethal, Manager, Hwy 104 Location

As the daughter of Kendall and Karla Wethal, she grew up at Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse, helping with the business from a young age.  After graduating from Evansville High School, she went to UW Stevens Point, where she received a B.S. in Dietetics and Nutrition.  She then worked as a dietician before deciding to return home to help grow the family business when they opened Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse.  She is happy to be back and really enjoys growing the flowers that brighten others’ lives.

At Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse, our goal is to provide you with healthy plants at reasonable prices and the know-how to grow them — all with a friendly smile, welcoming atmosphere, and small-town service. Whether you want a potted plant, a vegetable garden, or a dream backyard filled with shrubs, flowers, and beautiful hardscaping, we are here to help.  We can assist you with plant selections, answer your questions, create one of a kind planters just for you, or install a water feature in your yard. We will even carry your purchases to your car!

About Us

Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse opened in 1998 in Evansville, WI. Right from the start, we grew most of our own flowers, rather than just purchase them wholesale and resell them, and we still do. To do that well we hire staff that actually know and love plants.  Our staff loves to share that knowledge and help connect people with plants!

Being a green greenhouse is also important to us.   We installed our first solar panels in 2006 and haven’t looked back. We also focus on repurposing and reusing materials whenever we can.  Our retail stores feature walls and displays made of recycled wood and other materials, and we are always finding new ways to reuse and recycle.  You can read more about our green practices and solar energy system here.

Over the years, our business has grown. What started as a small business with a single greenhouse in Evansville grew to one with eight greenhouses on site. And we didn’t stop there.

In 2020 we opened Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse West in downtown Albany, which is primarily a self-service shop.   The following year, we had an opportunity to buy another location between Albany and Brodhead on Hwy 104, and opened Pleasant Prairie Greenhouse South. Our South location is about the same size as our Evansville location.  Double the space means we have double the inventory and we can stock a greater variety of plants and decor.

We are proud to serve the Evansville, Albany, and Brodhead communities and look forward to helping you find and grow the perfect plants for your home and garden, so come see what’s blooming today!
